Christ the Lord is Risen Today.
Happy Easter, if you celebrate it.
However, when this finale made it to the 109th time that Fitz and Olivia discussed how something wasn’t going to happen “right now,” I started to wonder why we should invest in them. Do we hope that the 110th time is going to be the one where Fitz and Olivia can be together for real? Or are we supposed to marvel and be sad at how they continue to think they can make it work, only to fail? I think Scandal wants to have it both ways, and to have us answer “yes” to both of those questions. It’s not working.

The repetition on this show is so lazy and boring. And no, they can’t have it both was because now mofos are seeing the light that many of us tried to shine on them MONTHS AGO!
Yep..three seasons and no movement. There are other shows and no one is going to invest in a show for 5 minutes of happiness. There are two huge miscalculations scandal made and both in season 2. Fitz should have pursued divorce in 213 and shonda changing the ending in 222. And three if you count jake’s entire existence.(via danifran16)
Yep. How awesome would it have been if Fitz pursued the divorce WITHOUT Olivia, as he said he would do, in the midst of the Defiance revelation and Verna’s trip home to “glory”? That right there would have been riveting. And you know Liv would have been keeping abreast of the polls and the pundits’ discourse about the divorce but would be barred from discussing any idea or strategy with Fitz because of Defiance. Ugh.(via nikkisshadetree)
👆👆👍👍 but it’s Shonda sooo
anticelery for the win. I feel so cheated anytime celery is used in any meal I eat. Tasteless and a waste because 0 nutrition really
Popcorn Celery: chopped fine and lightly salted, makes the perfect snack
Okay, you call this the perfect snack but it seems more like the thing you feed to people you hate just to watch them suffer. This shouldn’t even be called “popcorn” celery, this is not popcorn, this is a disgrace to humanity. All the salt in the world couldn’t help celery taste even somewhat decent, and it is far from being anything like popcorn. You can’t just salt something and call it popcorn, you know.
Tbh I like celery and I wouldn’t eat this. If someone served it to me I would probably leave.
some of y’all truly are hateful
This is foolishness. Plus popcorn is a healthy snack if it isn’t drenched in butter and salt
When [an abusive man] tells me that he became abusive because he lost control of himself, I ask him why he didn’t do something even worse. For example, I might say, “You called her a fucking whore, you grabbed the phone out of her hand and whipped it across the room, and then you gave her a shove and she fell down. There she was at your feet where it would have been easy to kick her in the head. Now, you have just finished telling me that you were ‘totally out of control’ at that time, but you didn’t kick her. What stopped you?” And the client can always give me a reason. Here are some common explanations:
"I wouldn’t want to cause her a serious injury."
“I realized one of the children was watching.”
“I was afraid someone would call the police.”
“I could kill her if I did that.”
“The fight was getting loud, and I was afraid the neighbors would hear.”
And the most frequent response of all:
"Jesus, I wouldn’t do that. I would never do something like that to her.”
The response that I almost never heard — I remember hearing it twice in the fifteen years — was: “I don’t know.”
These ready answers strip the cover off of my clients’ loss of control excuse. While a man is on an abusive rampage, verbally or physically, his mind maintains awareness of a number of questions: “Am I doing something that other people could find out about, so it could make me look bad? Am I doing anything that could get me in legal trouble? Could I get hurt myself? Am I doing anything that I myself consider too cruel, gross, or violent?”
A critical insight seeped into me from working with my first few dozen clients: An abuser almost never does anything that he himself considers morally unacceptable. He may hide what he does because he thinks other people would disagree with it, but he feels justified inside. I can’t remember a client ever having said to me: “There’s no way I can defend what I did. It was just totally wrong.” He invariably has a reason that he considers good enough. In short, an abuser’s core problem is that he has a distorted sense of right and wrong.
I sometimes ask my clients the following question: “How many of you have ever felt angry enough at youer mother to get the urge to call her a bitch?” Typically half or more of the group members raise their hands. Then I ask, “How many of you have ever acted on that urge?” All the hands fly down, and the men cast appalled gazes on me, as if I had just asked whether they sell drugs outside elementary schools. So then I ask, “Well, why haven’t you?” The same answer shoots out from the men each time I do this exercise: “But you can’t treat your mother like that, no matter how angry you are! You just don’t do that!”
The unspoken remainder of this statement, which we can fill in for my clients, is: “But you can treat your wife or girlfriend like that, as long as you have a good enough reason. That’s different.” In other words, the abuser’s problem lies above all in his belief that controlling or abusing his female partner is justifiable….
The person brings up a good point regarding all of the black women coming to tv. While Scandal showed that a show with a black female lead could be successful, the other shows will likely reap the spoils. And, I find that very unfortunate for Kerry. Fuck all of that “I’m happy to be nominated” bullshit. You want to be nominated, you want to win, particularly when it’s a “groundbreaking” show.
All of the other shit has been said by those of us with sense for MONTHS now. But folks ain’t want to listen. Well, y’all see now and it’s too late.
Oh I see it on 3 other shows already with well honed, WOC leads. They will reap the benefits because they have intelligent, worldly showrunners who GET IT and aren’t having interpersonal issues. What saddens me, said showrunners are ALL WHITE MALES at the top of their game with multiple shows for VARIED networks. They are not forced to remain in one space because they are valued for THEIR ACTUAL TALENT. Yeah…these women will be STEPPING OVER KERRY in the short run.
It’s so harsh when you say it like that but still the truth. I’m positive there will be a time where Kerry realizes (but never publicly acknowledges) what was done to her in this role. Maybe she has already but it is a certainty that it will happen. This was sabotage of the worst kind.
I wasn’t trying to be harsh, but it’s valid. No one knows if the knew shows will be successful (for example, I’m very skeptical of Extant, though the shows with Condola, Jada and Taraji definitely seem interesting). Personally, I feel that if KW gets nominated for s3 work, it’s only because of her status as sole black female lead (whereas last year I deforest felt that it was due to quality of work) and fact that she’s well liked.
all the commentary and especially the bold. ITA. Soon the Fox and better network shows with POC leads will take all the air out of Scandal and Kerry.
I dont want sex, I want the things that lead up to it. The slow kissing then the passionate kissing, then the pulling closer, the neck kisses, the grabbing, biting, heavy breathing, grinding, the pauses while you catch your breath, feeling each other. Oh my.
